15 Minute Fall Faux Apple Wreath

15 Minute Fall Faux Apple Wreath

The kiddos are back in school, foggy mornings prevail, football is the talk of the town, and pumpkin spice is EVERYWHERE.  Fall has arrived people, whether you like pumpkin spice everything, or not.  Personally, I think pumpkin ‘anything’ should be relegated to baked goods such as pies, bread, cake, and the occasional candle.

Now, don’t go gettin’ your panties in a wad my lovers of the good ‘ol Bucky’s Pumpkin Spice Latte.  If you like it, that’s your prerogative, and you are free to drink from the pumpkin spiced cup of the Pacific Northwest’s coffee overlord.  As for me, I will pass on the latte, and all things pumpkin related, including, but not relegated to; Choboni Pumpkin Spice Yogurt, Pumpkin Spice Mini-Wheats, Eggo Pumpkin Spice Waffles, Pumpkin Spice Pop-Tarts, Planter’s Pumpkin Spiced Almonds, Pumpkin Spice Latte M&M’s (was this necessary, Hershey’s?!), Nature’s Choice Pumpkin Spice Chicken Sausage (WTF! Pumpkin flavored meat products?  Really!  This is taking it too far people!), and yes, I will even pass on the Pumpkin Spice Pinnacle Vodka.  I know, GASP!  Stacy is passing up vodka, but that should prove to you just how much I loath pumpkin spiced products.  However, what I DO love are apples.

You like how I totally changed the subject there?

Apples.  What’s not to love?  They keep the doctor away.  They are the apple of one’s eye.  They are as American as apple pie.  They are The Big Apple.  And, as we refer to them in this home, they are nature’s candy.  Lucky for us, we live in the heart of apple country, where apples are easy to grow, find, pick, and buy on the cheap at roadside stands.  Apples are everywhere right now, well, not like pumpkin spice is, but you get my drift.  What better way to welcome fall than with a wreath made from what should be the star of the fall season, apples (not that other dumb bitch pumpkin spice).  This wreath will require a trip to the dollar store for foam apples, a look in the closet for a wire hanger, and a quick 15 minutes to assemble.

Fall Faux Apple Wreath Supplies:

13 Foam Apples

Coat Hanger

Burlap Ribbon

Floral Wire

Wire Cutters

Hot Glue Gun

Gather those cheap foam apples and pull their price tags.  Stretch out a wire hanger and clip the curly ends with wire cutters.  Form the wire into a loose circular shape.  Poke one end of the wire hanger slowly through the center of the foam apple, until it comes out the other side.  Continue stringing all 13 apples onto the wire, leaving 3-4 inches of exposed wire on each end of the circle.

Twist the end of the wires together, using wire cutters, or pliers, to secure the apple wreath.  Form a 1″ loop to hang the wreath, and again twist the end wires together.  Add a simple bow using burlap ribbon, or a strip of burlap fabric cut to 4″ wide by 6′ long.  To make the perfect homemade bow, check out my Bows Like A Pro DIY QUICK TIP by clicking here.  Secure the bow to the top of the wreath with floral wire.

To keep the apples from twisting all wonky, secure them where the sides of the fruit meet, with a dab of hot glue.  This will also help the wreath keep a circular shape.  As a final touch, I also hot glued a strip of burlap ribbon to the door’s wreath hanger, so everything would coordinate perfectly.

I love how simple and pretty this wreath looks on my front door.  It was a snap together, looks delicious enough to eat, and only cost me $10.  Not only is it the perfect wreath for September, but it will serve triple duty as it will also work for Thanksgiving and for the Apple Cup football game, between the Cougars and Huskies, in late November.  GO COUGS!

This adorable 15 minute fall faux apple wreath is hung and ready to greet my guests, even those pumpkin spiced latte drinking friends of mine.  Happy fall ya’ll!
