When life gets in the way of painting, grab a plastic bag & wrap your supplies to keep them fresh & pliable.

DIY Quick Tip – Need To Take A Painting Break? Grab A Sack & Wrap!

In the middle of painting a room and it’s time to make dinner?  Waiting for paint to dry before applying a second coat?  Have to get up for work in the morning and it’s time to call it quits?  If a break is all you need, then save yourself the time and energy by skipping the cleaning of the brushes and trays.  Simply wrap them up tight in a plastic bag and set them in a cool dry place to keep the fresh and pliable until break time is over.   It really works!

My dad taught me this trick a few years ago and man do I wish I had learned it sooner.  I loath cleaning brushes, especially paint rollers.  It takes forever and is extremely messy.  Ain’t nobody got time for that!  Instead of dealing with the cleaning hassle between breaks, I grab a grocery sack, or garbage bag, and wrap my supplies.  I used this tip repeatedly when I was working on painting my son’s bedroom.  This trick works great for short periods of time, approximately 48-72 hours.  Any longer than that, and you will likely end up with a few stiff bristles and clumpy paint.

So, the next time you need to take a painting break, don’t waste time cleaning, grab a sack and wrap.  You can thank me later.
